Ceanothus 'Frosty blue' , California Lilac
My personal notes: (be aware that this are my experiences in Victoria Garden. In other places in and around Redding, this plant can behave differently) Ceanothus 'Frosty blue' (Western Columbine) is a Californian native growing on higher elevations. It is very fast growing. The first year I thought I lost it, but the second year it appeared again behind the perennial sunflowers and now in its third year it is a small tree. The flowers are smaller and darker blue than the Ray Hartman. The leaves are small dark green. It is placed near the seasonal stream with no extra water. What are your experiences?
