My personal notes
: (be aware that this are my experiences in Victoria Garden. In other places in and around Redding, this plant can behave differently)

Lupinus albifrons (Silver Bush Lupine) is a local Californian native. We have seen it growing near Clear Creek and Bailey Cove. Mostly it has got purplish- blue flowers, however so now and then you can find one with pink flowers. It grows on poor soil far away from any stream on a sunny spot, so it is a real sun lover and drought tolerant plant. Best kept in summer on the dry side.
On the places where we found them, like Bailey Cove,  it will be colder in the winter than in the valley, thus making it a pretty winter hardy bush for Redding.
The silver colored leaves fit nicely in my front blue border, for that reason I planted two young plants there. To be sure that I won't lose this specimen, I also planted two in the native sage border, where it will be very sparely watered. I am curious under which conditions it will do best.
