My personal notes: (be aware that this are my experiences in Victoria Garden. In other places in and around Redding, this plant can behave differently)

Bouteloua gracilis (Eyebrow Grass) is a native American grass. It is a clump forming grass that uses little water and can be used as a low-maintenance lawn substitute. It seems to tolerate a wide range of soils, except poorly drained, wet soils.
The seedheads look a bit like eyebrows what explains its common name. It is also known under the common names Blue Gramma or Mosquito grass.
Last summer I didn't water this grass at all, but it didn't like it. Luckily it seems to be still alive and this year I will give it once a month good watering and see how it will react on that.
