Festuca idahoensis 'Siskiyou Blue', Idaho Fescue Grass
My personal notes: (be aware that this are my experiences in Victoria Garden. In other places in and around Redding, this plant can behave differently) Festuca idahoensis 'Siskiyou Blue' (Idaho Fescue Grass) is a California native and its natural habitat is the short-grass prairie. Like all native grasses, this is a clump forming grass. This specimen is short, only 10 - 14" high. The grey, nearly blue leaves indicate that this could be a drought tolerant plant. Indeed it hardly needs any summer water, but I have been reading it would love deep watering once every two weeks. It is not only a sun lover, but also relatively cold hardy here in the Redding area.
