My personal notes: (be aware that this are my experiences in Victoria Garden. In other places in and around Redding, this plant can behave differently)

Festuca idahoensis 'Siskiyou Blue' (Idaho Fescue Grass) is a California native and its natural habitat is the short-grass prairie. Like all native grasses, this is a clump forming grass. This specimen is short, only 10 - 14" high. The grey, nearly blue leaves indicate that this could be a drought tolerant plant. Indeed it hardly needs any summer water, but I have been reading it would love deep watering once every two weeks. It is not only a sun lover, but also relatively cold hardy here in the Redding area.
It doesn't need any maintenance. Maybe an good alternative for the tradition water loving and mowing needing 'English' lawn in front of the house? Maybe in combination with  Erigeron karvinskianus (Santa Barbara Daisy)?
