Leaf attachment describes the way the leaves are attached to the twig. You only have to learn 3 types of attachment.
1. opposite attachment
Opposite leaf attachment has pairs of leaves at each node (a node is where the buds are).
The leaves are attached on the twig opposite each other.
Also, compound leaves can have these different types of leaf attachment.
2. alternate attachment
Alternate leaf attachment has one leaf at each leaf node.
The leaves are attached on alternating sides of the twig.
3. whorled attachment
Whorled leaf attachment is where three or more leaves attach at a node on the twig.
